Cournation, Carnival and Houston

Hallöchen, today, we have only 13 more days of school left! Exciting exciting! Well, I plan on going to school in Germany, too but not like the whole day. Sometimes, I wake up because I dream I'd be back in Germany and get really sad about not having my second family with my two crazy sisters, all the aunts and cousins and little Lola our doggy. It'll be hart to say good bye and I'm already afraid of that moment! Last week was pretty exciting. On Thursday, we went to a conurnation, a tradition in Corpus where basically all the super rich people come together and the young men and women represent themselves and a theme. We felt a little out Of place but we were invited by good friends. This year the theme was; courts from all over the world. Girls represented princesses in gorgeous dresses. It was a beautiful spectacle but that's pretty much it. Right now, they celebrate the Buc Days in Corpus and the have a nice carnival downtown. We went on Friday and went on do many rides that I felt really nosheous afterwards! On the weekend, we went to Houston because my representative wanted some exchange students to see an Astro's baseball game. My host-dad also took us to the Cheese Cake Factory, the Galleria mall and Nordstrom rack. Inside the mall is a huge ice skating space and you could watch the pros practicing. We had a blast together! :D

Alohaa

Aloooooohaaa! (which means hey, goodbye and Love)  First of all, I'm just gonna post this link to our Hawaii blog that I don't have to write about everything. http://belousa10hawaii2012.blogspot.com/?m=1 These were definitely some of the best day in my whole exchange year! Probably even some of my life, yet. Our program was packed! On the first day, we went surfing and on a catamaran tour where we saw whales. We could always go to the beach or shops in at the Waikiki beach because we stayed at the 'queen kapiolani hotel' which is about two minutes from the beach. Two dreams came true already at the first day because of the long boardes and the whales!!! On the second day, we went to the polynesian culture center and on our way, we drove through Honolulu downtown, to the holy palace and also came by Jack Johnson's neighborhood!! and stopped at the the sunset beach where 'Pirates of the Carrabean' was filmed and also saw the beach where 'Bay Watch' was made. Then, we could have lunch in a really cute, traditional surfer village. Me and my room mates went to a Thai place which was amazing, the best Curry ever! At the Polynesian culture center, we 'visited' all the Hawaiian islands.  A group of natives introduced their cultures with dances, music and plays. The funniest person was a Japanese volunteer who had to drum and the guy was asking him things and he was always like; yes,yes...then, he asked him if he understands him and he was like; "yes".  The Samoan guy asked him: "are you lying to me?"  "yes". He didn't understand anything and was just smiling. ;D For dinner, we had a buffet with different food, a lot of Japanese food, though because of the abundance of Japanese tourists everywhere on Hawaii.    The next day, we went kayaking and had a blast because some just felt in the water. We ended up reaching our detonation, a little island that is suppose to be one of the 10 most beautiful islands. The guides let us over a path through rocks to a natural "pool".  After returning to the hotel, we went out to eat to the Hard Rock Cafe Honolulu.  The next day, we went hiking to the top of the Diamond Head where we had an amazing view over whole Waikiki and the ocean. In the afternoon, we went to the biggest open air mall in the world and to 'Bubba Gump', Forest Gump's restaurant. They had prepared a quiz for us where you could win prizes. My shrimp scampi was delicious;) We also experienced American history at Pearl Harbor where we had to volunteer, brooming the USS Missouri. We saw the memorial and a movie about December 7th. Afterwards, we went to a deserted white sand beach, it was soo beautiful! Luckily, we got to see a real Hawaiian wedding on the beach! Besides that, we had a fun time with swimming, tanning and playing beach volleyball. Our last day, we wanted to be an even more special one than the others. We went snorkeling at the Hanauma Bay and saw the most beautiful fish ever! Leni, Giulia and me went out twice. The second time we went out further and saw a kinda arc of corals on the ground where a school of fish were hiding in between and the sun was shining through it. In the evening, we went to a Luau. They had a show with a fire-dancer, a Hawaiian buffet and some activities like making flower bracelets, dancing, tattoos and some  other Hawaiian traditions. The brag there was beautiful, too, especially after the sunset. The moon was just reflecting in silver sparkles on the water. And then, we already had to leave and all spent our last night together in Room 606! The room! We were about 45 people in one little hotel room, all squeezed together and tired from the long week. Some really started brewing coffee in the middle if the night;) The goodbye was soo sad!! But we're already planning to meet again! I mean, exchange students should be used to go to other places;) Me ka aloha, hoku.     (means: love, Miriam)- hoku is my name in hawaiian, Miriam comes from Mary and Hoku means 'star'

Vorfreude and a whole bunch of work...:/

Haudi :D Der Frühling ist schon seit längerem da, obwohl es sich hier eher nach deutschem Hochsommer anfühlt!  Mein letzte Zeit hier war sehr stressvoll schulisch, aber auch sehr schön! Hatte alein in vier Tagen 10 Tests! Musste naemlich ein paar Tests wegen Hawaii frueher schreiben. Naecste Woche ist blöderweise six weeks Testung Woche. Dann ist da natürlich die steigende Vorfreude auf meinen Hawaii Trip, den ich morgen um 6.40 am "antrete", andererseits ist da der Gedanke, dass die Zeit hier an einem vorbei fliegt und ich es hier viel mehr geniesse so mit den Temperaturen.  Ich hab gerade echt gemischte Gefühle! Ist schon komisch die Familie zu verlassen mit der man ein Jahr gelebt hat! Auch wenn sie crazy und pretty busy waren hab ich sie doch lieb gewonnen. Insbesondere meine kleine Madi, die an Ostersonntag uebrigends 13 wird! Heute haben wir deswegen in kleines get- together mit der family. Hab dafuer einen Rafaello Kuchen gebacken. Ist mega gut! Wie machen dann noch fried and boiled shrimp, a big salad and a big cake. ;) Ich schreib dann nach Hawaii wieder!!

Spring Break 2012

Spring Break,
in meinem Freundeskreis hier nicht so feucht und froehlich wie man es immer in Filmen sieht. Trotzdem lustig!
Nach einem guten Mittwoch an dem alle Seniors und Exchange Students früher entlassen worden sind und wir, ein paar Freunde und ich, eine gut Zeit in Port A, war auch endlich Spring Break 2012! Wir sind zu Snoopy's einem schönen Restaurant am Wasser, an den stand und shoppen gegangen.
Auf der Island wohnen ist echt schön! Das hab ich gemerkt als ich bei einer Freundin übernachtet hab und im Kondo des Bruder's meiner Gastmutter.
Am letzten Tag sind meine jüngere Gastschwester und ich alleine aufgewacht im Kondo und haben uns gedacht, dass es doch schoen waer einfach mal früh an Strand zu gehen.
Das er es dann auch!
Das Wasser hat so schön golden und silber geglitzert und es war sehr ruhig.
Ein schöner Ausklang einer mal ganz anderen Spring Break!

my start of my second semester

Nach dem ich von Chemie auch Bio Pre AP nach einem Semester gewechselt hab war es doch recht schwer rein zukommen. Die letzte Woche war eine meiner anstrtengensten, so viel studyig. In jedem Fach haben wir nächste Woche wieder six weeks Tests und in vielen Klassen hatten wir noch einen Test letzte Woche was mega anstrengend war. Hatte nämlich alleine 3 Tests am Freitag.
Dieses Wochenende war dafür wieder ganz gut. Die erste Hälfte war ich mit meinem Gastvater Einkäufe erledigen und am Abend waren Favorites. Favorites ist ein Schultanz so wie Homecoming, nur nen bisschen more casual. Vorher waren wir bei 'Joshi's', einem Japanischen Restaurant. Ich hatte die Corpus Christi Role, seht gut ;) Der Tanz war dann wieder wie im Film, vier Tänze waren wieder wo alle das Gleiche tanzen. Das ist sehr lustig, besonders, wenn da ein paar Leute sind die es nicht hinkriegen und einen dann die ganze Zeit anrempeln ;D
In der letzten Zeit realisier ich wie lange ich eig schon hier bin und eig auch edlich mal wieder nach hause gehen könnte. Ich zieh das jetzt aber durch, kann mich ja noch auf Hawaii freuen :)

Jaja, jetzt meld ich mich auch mal wieder....
Inzwischen waren wir auf der Ranch meines Gastvaters und seiner Geschwister. Auf der Hinfashrt haben wir bei der weltberühmten King ranch gehalten.
Einmal haben wir bei waterstreet gegessen und das Selena Memorial angeguckt (die Balletaufführungen waren ja auch im Selena Audotorium).

Nach einem total langweiligen Wochenende letzte Woche hab ich mir vorgenommen dieses Wochenende was zu machen. Gestern war dann auch richtig gut. Nach einem guten workout mit Body-Combat und Zumba, haben meine Gasteltern Madi und mich bei Barnes and Nobles abgesetzt. Quiche und einen Chai Tee Latte ;-). Danach sind ne Freundin und ich zur Pediküre gegangen unda dann ins Kino; One For The Money. Sehr lustig. Alles in allem ein sehr guter Tag.
Heute gehts mal wieder inne mall mit der neuen deutschen Austauschschülerin und dann mal sehen..

Happy New Year!

First of January! Happy new year!!

Es gab viele spannende, schoene, unvergessliche und auh traurige moments.

Ich hab mein new Year, anders als meine deutschen Freunde, 

mit der Familie verbracht,was aber total Spass gemacht hat! 

Es wurden spanische Lieder gesungen, mexikanisch gegessen, Raketen gezündet und getanzt. 

Da merkt man eben die mexikanische Ausgelassenheit!  ;)
